We invite you to join us in Romano Cagnoni’s studio in Pietrasanta, Italy for a look back at his incredible career as a photojournalist. Having grown up in an Italian town during World War II, Romano has often been told that his early childhood “invited” him to be a war photographer. He replies, “I am a photographer, interested in the conflicts of war because in those situations, people are obliged to reveal their feelings, their contradictions, their hopes, their anxieties.” In this pursuit, Romano has documented hostilities in Vietnam, Cambodia, Nigeria, Israel, Yugoslavia, Kosovo, and Chechnya, for magazines such as Time, Life, and Paris Match. He has received awards from the Oversees Press Club of America (OPC) and the Art Director’s Club of Germany, as well as many others.
